■ An overwhelming demand for tickets for the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s presentation of Mahler’s Second Symphony, the Resurrection, on Saturday August 4 , has resulted in a full working dress rehearsal being opened to the public the night before, tomorrow, Friday August 3, at the Cape Town City Hall. The concert and rehearsal will include Kristi Boozaaier’s Ode to Madiba to mark the birth 100 years ago of Nelson Mandela. They will be conducted by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s principal guest conductor Bernhard Gueller, with soloists Goitsemang Lehobye (soprano) and Bongiwe Nakani (mezzo-soprano), the Cape Town Symphony Choir and The Gentleman’s Ensemble.
