Orchestra changes name

The newly-named Cape Town Baroque Orchestra will be releasing several online productions of orchestral and chamber music over the next two months.

Camerata Tinta Barocca has changed their name to the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra.

The group said while they were very fond of the old name, they feel the new name will position them firmly within the global baroque arena, and will make the name much more self-explanatory. The new brand also aligns with the annual Cape Town Baroque Festival.

In order to celebrate the name change, they will launch several online productions of orchestral and chamber music over the next two months.

The first episode in a four-part series titled “At home with the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra” can be viewed on YouTube. Several videos of music, originally meant to be played or sung at home, were filmed at the home of Noordhoek-based organ and harpsichord builder, William Selway (Bill) Robson. Episode 1 features soprano Lynelle Kenned and the orchestra’s artistic director, Erik Dippenaar, on organ.
