Die Boer by die Huis digital platform is presenting an Afrikaans play called Oskar en die Pienk Tannie starring Sandra Prinsloo, from 6pm today, Thursday July 2 to Tuesday July 7. The play was initially translated into Afrikaans by Naòmi Morgan from Oscar and the Lady in Pink, written by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Prinsloo portrays Oskar, a terminally ill 10-year-old boy, as well as a grandmother and a few other characters in a children’s ward. Oskar has cancer and his operation was unsuccessful. His life buoy is Granny Rose, an elderly woman who visits the children’s hospital every day. She is wise, witty and irreverent. To amuse him, she concocts tales of her days as a free-style wrestler, the Strandveld Strangler. She orders him to live every day as if it were 10 years and advises him to write a letter to God every day and to make a wish. There is a parental guidance warning for children under 10. Tickets cost R120 through Webtickets.
