Smouldering in Shakespeare

■ Sea Point actor Armand Aucamp joins the cast of Shakespeare in Love for the show’s return to the Fugard Theatre from Tuesday August 14. Aucamp, who was most recently seen as Mynie in the television series Knapsekêrels, steps in to the role of Marlowe, Will Shakespeare’s closest friend and confidante. “With his extensive experience and brilliant acting talent, Armand is perfect for the role of Marlowe and we are delighted to have him join our wonderful company of actors,” says Daniel Galloway, executive director of the Fugard Theatre. In Shakespeare in Love, Young Will Shakespeare has writer’s block; the deadline for his new play is fast approaching but he is in desperate need of inspiration. That is, until he finds his muse – Viola. This beautiful young woman is Will’s greatest admirer and will stop at nothing (including breaking the law) to appear in his next play. Tickets cost from R150 to R350 can be booked through the Fugard Theatre box office on 021 461 4554.
