Youth Month programme

The Artscape Theatre Centre’s Youth Arts Programme for Youth Month still has a few performances lined up until Saturday July 15.

Performances this year honour the contribution made by the youth during the struggle against apartheid.

The ongoing Chrysalis Academy youth development organisation exhibition remains open during Artscape operating hours until Friday July 2. Productions for the rest of the Youth Month include:

Silent Cries, a play which highlights an incident that happened in Durban, where a group of Africans were brutally beaten and burnt to death by a group from the South African Zulu community, will show today, Thursday June 22, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R50.

Jitsvinger – Smoortjies and Smoothies, an inter-generational dialogue where two artists of different generations share their proudly homegrown musical recipes, will show on Friday June 23 and Saturday June 24, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R100.

The Youth Jazz Festival takes place on Friday June 30, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R80.

The Sekunjalo Edujazz Concert will take place on Saturday July 1, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R95.

The Borne Frees, a group of youth from various schools dancing under the leadership of New World Dance Theatre, will show from Tuesday July 13 to Thursday July 15, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost R40.
