My husband and I both give our support to this initiative to have ablution facilities starting at Rocklands.
It will be a win-win for all. With the appropriate monitoring it will add to the lives of the homeless.
On a recent visit to my son, Matthew, who resides in Los Angeles, we went to Venice Beach and all along their promenade they have these toilet/shower facilities. There are many homeless people in America and in the beach areas in particular. The facilities are well used by the homeless and are no bother to anyone.
They are equally well maintained and provide the much needed dignity to people for such a basic need. Santa Monica also offers these ablution facilities, so Cape Town is not out of step.
