Storms over the weekend destroyed trees and left roads with gaping holes, none more recognisable than the one in front of the Theatre on The Bay.
The shows, however, will continue at this iconic Camps Bay venue.
“The show must (and does) go on!” said Dean Roberts, a representative from Theatre on The Bay. “Master Class opened last night to a standing ovation. As to be expected, Sandra Prinsloo’s performance was just sublime.”
“The City of Cape Town has been very responsive and are taking steps to restore the street to its former glory as soon as possible. In the meantime, the area has been cordoned off, and does not affect the audience experience,” he said.
Girshwin Fouldien, the manager of Sub-council 16, said they are monitoring the situation. “We have been on site and will be on site, repairing this (hole) also depends on the weather conditions, the waste water department, water department and road infrastructure management are all involved with this process of repair,” said Mr Fouldien.
Mr Fouldien said they expect to complete the reinstatement of the road within the next week, weather dependant.
Master Class starring Sandra Prinsloo is back on the Theatre on The Bay stage until Saturday September 30, at 8pm, with a 3pm matinee on Saturday.
Tickets cost from R180 through Webtickets. No under-13s allowed.
