Following the City of Cape Town’s approval, the Camps Bay City Improvement District (CBCID) formally began operations on July 1.
Nicola Jowell, councillor for Ward 54, says the CBCID has worked diligently to ensure that they are ready to deliver services to residents.
“Top-up services have already started and been a vital part of the response to the storm issues and damage in the area this week. The CID is a vitally important part of the future of the suburb and the provision of the top-up services will mean a cleaner and safer area as we have seen in all areas where CIDs have been established. It will take time for the CID to get up to full capacity but it’s heartening to see the activity and services already deployed and making a positive contribution and this is only going to increase and expand over time,” Ms Jowell said.
According to a CBCID statement, the organisation has four divisions, and the managers want to work with the community to create a dynamic, safe, and thriving environment.
The CBCID manager Muneeb “Mo” Hendricks, played a crucial role during the establishment phase of the CID. With 20 years of experience at Cape Town CID, Mr Hendricks is a familiar face and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the job.
Operations manager Kyle Visage joins the team from North Pine CID, where he remains a board member overseeing Urban Management and Social Development portfolios. Known for his innovative approaches to Corporate Social Investment programmes, Mr Visage’s holistic vision for social development promises to bring creative and impactful solutions tailored to Camps Bay’s unique needs, the CBCID said.
Public safety and security manager, Ty Watts has been a part of safety and security efforts in Camps Bay through the Community Safety Initiative for the past four years. His understanding of local challenges, coupled with the CID’s resources, positions him perfectly to implement effective safety enhancements.
Administrative, communications, and volunteer manager, Sarah Meder has been a dedicated community advocate since 2008, working at various local organisations, including Camps Bay Watch and the Camps Bay and Clifton Safe Community Trust. Her extensive experience in volunteer initiatives and strong administrative skills make her an excellent fit for her role, where she will oversee communications and volunteer coordination for the CID, they said.
“The Board of Directors of the Camps Bay CID are very happy with the progress that has been made towards the implementation of the CID. There is a lot still to be done, but we have a strong management team who are hard at work and we look forward to being fully operational well in advance of the busy summer season,” said Spencer McNally, the chairperson of the CBCID.
The CBCID can be contacted via email on connect@campsbaycid.org and on the CBCSI emergency number which is 021 438 2000 until the CID resources are up and running.
