The national Department of Social Development has released their latest Child Care and Protection Draft Policy for public scrutiny and comment.
However, with the deadline for submissions on Thursday January 25, the Child Protection Collaborative (CPC) has organised a three-hour public discussion workshop on Monday January 22 from 12.30pm at the Novalis Ubuntu Institute in Rosmead Avenue, Wynberg.
The Western Cape Child Protection Collaborative (CPC) is a civil society child protection movement which is made up of representative practitioners and professionals from various entities.
All organisations and NGOs who have the care and protection of children as part of their objectives, are invited to attend this free event.
For a copy of the draft policy and to register to attend the workshop, email childprotectioncollaborative@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp message to 083 701 7012.
Speaking on behalf of CPC, co-ordinator Tony Lawrence, urged the public to make use of the opportunity to influence and input into the development of policies, saying the safety and future development of our children depend on our ability to develop effective and implementable policies.
