C Deane, Green Point
I refer to last week’s letter “Gone before you know it” (Atlantic Sun letters, August 25), written by Sam Payne, who has hit the nail on the head.
If residents, council and heritage office do not take action against the willful destruction of beautiful Victorian houses in Green Point by so-called developers, we’ll soon have a concrete jungle on the slopes of Signal Hill.
Council urgently needs to identify heritage buildings.
The narrow roads and pavements are being destroyed by massive demolition and building trucks.
Narrow streets are clogged up with cars. Blocks are being built up to the erf edges with no room for gardens or trees.
Can council and residents take united action before it’s too late.
