A woman and a man, both aged 23, were arrested for assaulting two police officers in separate incidents on Friday June 28.
In the first incident, which took place in Hope Street, Gardens, at 8pm, police responded to a report of domestic violence, said Cape Town Central police spokesman Captain Ezra October.
The complainant, a woman, had applied for an interim protection order against another woman and when the officers went to deliver it, the second woman got angry and assaulted one of the police officers.
The other incident took place on the corner of Long and Bloem streets around 11.30pm when the police officers found cocaine on one of two brothers. While the officers were arresting the man who had the drugs on him, his brother assaulted one of the officers.
Both men were arrested, one for drug possession and the other for common assault.
On Saturday June 29, security officers with the Oranjezicht Higgovale Central Improvement District (OHCID),apprehended a 35-year-old man for theft out of motor vehicle at Camp Street,Oranjezicht. He was handed over to Cape Town Central police and held there until Monday for a court appearance.
In Burnside Road, Tamboerskloof, police officers sergeants Glen Machelm and Rodney Franks arrested two people, aged 32 and 36, for theft after they stole a baby stroller from a garage on Tuesday June 25.
The owner reported the matter to security and OHCID, whose security officers later found the pram and the two suspects who were arrested and detained at Cape Town Central police station until their appearance at Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Thursday June 27.
The recovered pram was handed back to the owner.
