The Deutsche Internationale Schule Kapstadt (DSK) was visited by a delegation that was accompanying the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on his state visit to South Africa last Tuesday, November 20.
They welcomed Thomas Kruger, President of the Federal Agency for Civic Education, Sonke Wortmann a famous German film director and producer, Thandi Sebe a DSK alumni and author, actress and directress, Jessica Nupen a German dancer and choreographer as well as members of the German embassy from Pretoria.
During the school tour, the delegation peeked into a Grade 5 classroom that had children from both the German and English streams together and was experiencing an encounter lesson.
A highlight was the streaming of the popular German movie “Frau Muller muss weg” directed by Sonke Wortmann who later gave the Grade 8 and 9 pupils an opportunity to ask questions after the screening.
In the evening, invited DSK members had the opportunity to meet and have a chat with the German president in person at the residence of the German Ambassador in Cape Town.
