Once a year, the German International School Cape Town (DSK) is transformed into a hub of authentic German food, culture and entertainment. This fundraising event is a parents’ initiative and attracts thousands of bazaar fans.
Approximately 7 000 people, young and old, visited the DSK on Saturday November 3 to enjoy a fun action-packed day as well as typical dishes like Schweinshaxe, Bratwurst, Kassler, Sauerkraut and potato salad.
Children were spoilt for choice with many exciting activities such as go-karts, bungee trampolining, ninja wipe-out, rocket launcher, air jump, zip line, a petting zoo and craft work.
There were also prizes to be won and the grand prize was two return flights to Europe aboard Lufthansa.
With the children being entertained, adults could browse the Christmas shop which sold handmade Christmas items and yummy treats, while bargain hunters found treasures in the bookstore, flea market and second-hand boutique. Live music kicked off at lunchtime at the beer tent, showcasing some school bands followed by professional South African artists.
As in previous years, the award-winning Oktoberfest band, Bayernman took to the stage to entertain the evening crowd.
