Japanese heritage celebrated By Shahied Joseph - September 29, 2022 Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter The Consul of Japan in Cape Town celebrated Heritage Day at Jan van Riebeeck High School in Gardens over the weekend, with the Japanese community showing off origami, karate and the delicious foods associated with the island nation. JKA students thrilled the crowd with their demonstration of Shotokan. No one got hurt in this karate demonstration. Ayanda Mpikaa, a teacher from Origami For Africa, taught people how to fold paper in to shapes, otherwise known as Origami. The Tombokai swordsmen had the crowd in awe of their craft.
