Litter in the ocean

Andrew Newall, Three Anchor Bay

Every day I take a short stroll on the promenade to the lighthouse.

I always carry a plastic packet and collect whatever litter has been washed up by the waves onto the promenade.

It always amazes me how much litter there is floating in the water.

The main and worst culprit is polystyrene food containers which get broken up into hundreds of tiny pieces as can be seen in my image.

What is shown along with the over 50 plastic lollipop sticks is from a single walk clean-up after the recent storm.

It coincidental that (this was collected during) Clean-up and Recycle SA Week.
