Man stabbed on mountain

A 27-year-old man was stabbed after getting into a scuffle on Signal Hill on Sunday October 23.

Captain Ezra October, spokesperson for the Cape Town Central police station said the man had been walking alone on the Sea Point side of Signal Hill.

“He was approached by an unknown man and was robbed of his cellphone. The complainant then decided to chase the man down the mountain and caught him at the fire break.”

Captain October said the two got into another scuffle during which the complainant was stabbed in the arm.

“He found our police members who were patrolling near the Kramat area on Signal Hill and reported the incident to them. The man was then taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries but was in a stable condition.”

Captain October said this was an isolated incident with no cases having been reported on the mountain in that area recently. However, he advised residents to leave valuables at home when using the mountain.
