The body of a missing woman was found on Table Mountain last week.
The Western Cape Government Health’s EMS Rescue team, who located the body on Tuesday February 23, said the woman had fallen or jumped.
In their search for the woman, the EMS drone had been deployed and the body was eventually found by the EMS rescue team who assisted on foot as there were bushes which had obstructed the view of the drone technician.
EMS spokesperson, Deanna Bessick, said the woman had been reported missing on Monday February 22 when a missing person’s report had been filed with the police in Stellenbosch.
She said the woman had been seen walking up the mountain on Friday February 19, and her bag found early the following on top of the mountain in the Fountain Ravine area.
SANParks area manager in the Northern Section of Table Mountain, Wana Bacela, said the woman had visited his house days before.
“I wasn’t there but my kids opened for her and she told them she was waiting for her boyfriend. The boyfriend never pitched and she then asked for a place to stay for the night. My kids said she woke up very early the next morning and a hours later, she was reported missing. It’s such a sad and unfortunate situation,” he said.
