Head for the hills as you wine your way through the vineyards for the fourth Steenberg Cool Runnings Charity Trail Run, on Saturday August 6.

Held annually at Steenberg Vineyards, trail options are a 5km or 10km loop to run, jog or walk, with all proceeds going to the Mdzananda Vet Clinic in Khayelitsha, a community project that provides quality care for ill and abandoned animals.

At the finish line, participants receive a wine glass filled with Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and then a free wine tasting with 10 percent off on all wine purchases from the cellar door on the day. There are also prizes up for grabs.

For those wishing to give a little more, a Mdzananda Vet donation box will be available prior to the race where leashes, blankets, dog or cat food and other pet items can be dropped into.

The entry fee is R130 per trail runner, R50 per teen between the ages of 12 and 17, while children under 12 have free entry. Water and wine refreshment stations will be available en route and breakfast treats and refreshments can bebought before the start and during the course of the morning.

Registration opens at 7am outside the Bistro1682 Restaurant. Walkers are welcomed.

The briefing takes place 15-minutes ahead of the race at 8am. Pre-booking is essential and can be done at www.quicket.co.za.
