Rainy weekend

Walkers on the Promenade brave the rainy weather.

Gale-force wind and wild green waves lashed the promenade over the weekend. From Friday afternoon, June 26, swells reached an average 7.4m with a mere 15 seconds between each wave. As rain abated on Sunday afternoon, cyclists, dog-walkers, joggers and amblers arrived, some filming the waves crashing across the sea wall. In places, pools of water, piles of kelp and broken shells scattered the seaboard, proving the power of an angry ocean. Some light rain is due to hit the Atlantic seaboard on Thursday afternoon, July 2.
