On Saturday June 10 a couple running down Signal Hill towards Sea Point noticed a man who was acting suspiciously.
On their return towards the Kramat, the two runners were accosted by the man at knifepoint while he demanded their belongings.
The man was stabbed in his right hand before his camel bag containing his iPhone was taken. The attacker then ran into the bushes in the direction of the shooting range and proceeded down Military Road into Bo-Kaap before he disappeared.
After receiving the complaint, Cape Town SAPS officers tracked the iPhone by following the signal on foot from Vista High School in Bo Kaap into Chiappini, Waterkant and then into Strand Street where they spotted the man, but he ran towards the Quarry in Bo-Kaap. He was arrested by the police and a TMNP ranger.
The iPhone was later recovered, the 37-year-old man arrested for armed robbery and detained at Cape Town Central police station.
According to Cape Town Central police spokesperson, Ezra October, the man appeared at Cape Town Magistrate court on Tuesday June 13 and SAPS opposed the bail application.
