On Thursday September 20, leading hospitality establishments walked away with Sanlam Top Destination Awards in their respective categories and star gradings at the 4th annual awards ceremony that was held at The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay.
The event aimed to show recognition to the local entrepreneurs and businesses who contribute to the growth of the South African tourism industry.
This year, the contest added the Water Sustainability Award, created in conjunction with Water 4 Cape Town and Cape Town Tourism to reward the country’s most water conscious establishment.
Khwa ttu, a unique San Heritage Centre which combines culture and heritage with adventure and education, walked away with not only this honourable title but received a 3D Virtual Scan to the value of R15 000.
Finalists received up to R10 000 in marketing services from an advertising agency along with their certificates, while the 35 winners each walked away with the title of Top Destination in their category and star grading, a winner’s certificate, trophy as well as an additional R25 000 in marketing services.
The managing director of Discount Traveler and founder of the Sanlam Top Destination Awards, Jonathan Pepler, said they would do all they could to unify the country’s hospitality industry. “Together we can elevate tourism in South Africa and prove everyone right that this country is the top destination of hospitality with a deep love for our industry,” he said.
