Two men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested on Monday evening for being in the possession of an imitation firearm and drugs in Vredehoek.
Police were doing vehicle patrols in Vredehoek when
they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Avanza on Crassulla Avenue.
Upon seeing the police vehicle, the Avanza sped off and it was chased up until it hit a pole in Walmer Estate.
Two men were caught and upon searching the vehicle an imitation firearm, a grinder, implements used in house break-ins and to steal vehicles, suspected stolen cellphones and drugs in the form of tik were found inside the vehicle and also on them.
Sea Point police have confirmed that a case was opened after an elderly woman was robbed off her necklace at the Sea Point promenade last week.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was having coffee with her husband and daughter when a member of a group grabbed her necklace.
After a little scuffle, the woman fell to the ground, sending her cup flying, and the group made off with the chain.
