Over the holiday season, the Friends of Child Protection plan to assemble over 1000 comfort packs for children who have been sexually abused.
The packing will take place at Gardens Presbyterian Church, which is located on the corner of Hatfield and Orange Streets on the following dates:
Pre-pack: Thursday November 24, from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
Pre-pack: Saturday November 26 from 8.30am until 3.30pm
Pre-pack: Tuesday November 29, from 8.30am until 12.30pm
Pack day: Thursday December 1, from 8.30am until 11.30am. On this day the comfort packs are put together by the volunteers and then collected by the hospital and SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units.
“We also have an urgent request for any knitted teddies and soft toys. We are going to have one of the larger packs of the year so need as many soft toys as possible for the comfort packs,” said FCP chairperson Antonia Zechner.
