Workers protested in the city centre today against the continued closure of the tourism sector during the national lockdown.
Tania Sabor from Sea Point held a poster saying “Tourists’ paradise with no tourists”.
“What is paradise with no service?” she asked. “The government needs to help us – we need to get people back to work, earn a living and help them be sustainable.”
Mpho Tsotetsi from Gardens said she hasn’t received a salary since March. She added that one of the side-effects of the restrictions is the increase in gender-based violence.
