The City of Cape Town will replace beach and tidal pool signs in Sea Point by the end of May at a total cost of R27 514.
New signage will be installed at Milton Beach tidal pool, Broken Bath Beach, Sunset Beach, Queens Beach, and the Saunders Rocks ablution facility.
Ward 54 councillor Nicola Jowell says the signage is important as it is placed at the access points to the beaches and also in parks.
“They lay down in visual representation some of the main by-laws that are applicable to the location that they are placed such as the rules around dogs, no alcohol permitted, no littering and the requirement to pick up dog poo in places where dogs are allowed. In other locations there will be signage indicating if it is a swimming beach or not,” said Ms Jowell.
Ms Jowell adds that there is no fixed schedule of replacement.
“In the coastal zone the signage does certainly deteriorate faster than in other spaces. The current project is not only the replacement of signage but the rolling out of an updated signage design which has an entirely updated look and feel to them,” she said.
