Wynberg Girls’ Schools launched their Wool for Wonders campaign for the sixth year running and hope to collect more than 5 000 items. Wynberg Girls’ Junior School will be knitting blankets and the high school will be knitting jerseys. A unique jersey pattern, printed below, has been designed by the Wynberg Old Girls’ Union, in conjunction with Wynberg Girls’ schools, however, both schools encourage donations of any items so get those needles clicking.
The campaign is supported by Constantiaberg Bulletin, the Atlantic Sun’s sister newspaper.

4 To make up
* For straight/ boat neck
Sew the two pieces together, leaving a wide enough slit for the head/ neck opening.
Stitch up under sleeve and side seams.
* For square neck and V-neck
Stitch shoulder and upper sleeve edges together. Stitch under arm and side seam together.
* For half collar neck
Stitch under arm and side seams together.
The two little collar points can be stitched down or fastened with a little button. (If left loose, looks like a little grandpa vest.) Stitch shoulder and upper sleeve seam together.
Tip: Thinner wool and smaller needles can be used for a smaller size. This jersey pattern can also be adapted by knitting more rows on the sleeves and adding on more stitches when casting on for the body.
