United Cricket Club went down by nine wickets to Primrose in a Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) First Division A one-day clash at Green Point on Saturday.Â
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 57 runs after 20.1 overs.
Primrose batsman, Justin Pringle scored a half-a-century to help his side reach 60/1 and win by nine wickets.
In other Fisrt Division action, Green Point lost to Rylands by one wicket in Athlone at the weekend. Rylands won the toss and sent the visitors to bat first, limiting them to 170 all-out after 49.2 overs.
In return, Rylands’ batsman, Rushdi Jappie scored an impressive 69 runs off 112 balls to help his team reach the 171 mark with a wicket to spare.
Further north, Northerns Goodwood (NGCC) recorded a 39-run victory against neighbours, Edgemead away. NGCC won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 136 runs after 47.1 overs, thanks to a solid partnership between Fronic Kasner (52 runs) and Franco Kasner (26 runs).
Edgemead’s opening bowler, Simon Blake recorded 5/26 in nine overs to help his team break down NGCC’s batting.
NGCC responded with wickets of their own, with Dean Morris picking up 4/13 and Morne du Randt getting 2/13 in 4.4 overs.
NGCC limited Edgemead to 97 runs, all-out, to win by 39 runs.
Elsewhere, the in-form Kraaifontein had the better of Tygerberg on Saturday, winning by three wickets.
Kraaifontein captain, Craig Ephraim recorded bowling figures of 5/30 and scored an unbeaten 53 off 81 balls.
In other First Division action, Milnerton Cricket Club’s Malcolm Cloete’s four-wicket haul helped his team beat Gugulethu by 68 runs during WPCA) First Division A one-day match at the NY49 sports complex in Gugulethu on Saturday.
Gugulethu won the toss and elected to bowl first, limiting Milnerton to 125 runs all-out after 42.2 overs.
The last time these two sides met, Gugulethu won by 13 runs thanks to Mncedisi Tyhilo’s century.
