Talent runs in Abromowitz family

A love of performing continues to run in Dr Lindy Abromowitz-Sachs’ family.

Lindy, who is the daughter of Stagecraft Drama Studio founder Cheryl Abromowitz, has now added “show-mom” to her list of credentials.

Many will remember Lindy from local productions of Grease, the hilarious Off Beat Broadway series and the PACT production of The Sound of Music starring Aviva Pelham as Maria Von Trapp.

Her daughters Shani and Lia are now feverishly rehearsing for The Sound Of Music, set to open at Artscape next month.

Shani and Lia will be alternating the roles of Marta Von Trapp and Brigitta Von Trapp respectively.

Lindy said the girls came to her asking if they could audition.

“I knew that the show was one that both children and adults could relate to, and of course, is one of the most popular shows of all time. and I wanted to ensure that my children would have a healthy experience.”

She said both of her daughters had been involved in Evita, and knowing the team that the girls would be working with set her mind at ease.

She said the trick is to help children find what they are passionate about and then allow them to chase their dreams, and become respectful and happy members of society along the way.

The Sound of Music is now on at Artscape until Saturday May 27. Tickets cost from R100 to R500. For group packages, call 021 438 3301 or book through Computicket.
