On Sunday night a blaze destroyed a private property at 35th Avenue Huguenot in Fresnaye, no injuries or casualties were recorded.
However, five persons were displaced according to Jermaine Carelse, the spokesperson for the City’s Fire and Rescue Service.
“The emergency call was received at 7.25pm on Sunday evening (October 1). Crews from Roeland Street, Salt River and Sea Point were dispatched to the scene, three fire engines and a rescue vehicle with approximately 17 firefighters.
“Substantial damage was caused and the roof collapsed as well. The blaze was extinguished at 10.30pm,” said Mr Carelse.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
