The Andrew Ford Trio will perform on Saturday September 17 at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, in Green Point, at 3pm.
The trio consists of top jazz musicians Andrew Ford on piano, Wesley Rustin on bass and Heinrich Goosen on drums.
Joining them will be rising young singing star, Adelia Douw.
Douw was the winner of last year’s Open Mic Jazz competition at GrandWest. She got her jazz feet wet when she tagged along with a friend to the rehearsals of the Delft Big Band, based in the suburb where she was raised.
She became a soloist for the big band shortly afterwards and earned a scholarship for a summer school at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music. She has performed twice at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, toured France with the Delft Big Band, and has visited Sweden twice, performing for Queen Sylvia while there.
Adelia can be heard on the Delft Big Band’s first CD, released early in 2015. Now a full time musical professional, she has just passed the audition phase for a new television series.
Tickets for the church concert cost R100. To reserve a seat book through Quicket or buy tickets at the door. For more information, call 082 864 4550.
