Once a year, the German International School Cape Town (DSK) is transformed into a hub of authentic German food, culture and entertainment for their family bazaar.
Over 7000 people attended the annual fund-raising event on November 4.
The bazaar is a parents’ initiative and includes entertainment, a wide range of activities for youngsters, German food and delicacies such as Schweinshaxe, Bratwurst, Kassler, Sauerkraut and potato salad, music and beer.
Children could enjoy activities like the zip line, rocket launcher, air jump, go karting, bungee trampolining, a petting zoo, face painting, craft stations, jumping castle, soccer wall and even a teens pool party with DJs.
There was also a Christmas shop, bookstore, flea market, second-hand boutique and prizes up for grabs. Live music kicked off at lunchtime at the beer tent, showcasing some school bands followed by professional South African artists. As in previous years, the award-winning Oktoberfest band, “Bayernmä* ” took to the stage to entertain the evening crowd.
