A suspect was arrested in Tamboerskloof early on Monday April 22 after an alleged house robbery in the area.
“From what we can gather, the suspect, along with two accomplices, had tried to rob a house in Queens Road, after 4am on Easter Monday. One of the suspects reportedly sustained an injury during the process,” said Cape Town South district manager at Fidelity ADT, Jade Hanning.
Cornelius van Nooi, an armed response officer with Fidelity ADT, was on patrol in the area at the time and responded to a radio request for assistance from one of his colleagues who was already at the house in Queens Road.
“Mr Van Nooi was given a description of the suspects who had fled the scene and proceeded to look for them. He quickly located one of the suspects where he was hiding in a bush nearby, and called for police and medical backup as the suspect required medical assistance,” said Mr Hanning.
The suspect was taken into custody by the SAPS and taken for medical treatment, under police guard.
Mr Hanning commended the two officers who worked together in ensuring that the suspect was apprehended.
Meanwhile, on Saturday April 27, on the corner of Eaton and Kloofnek roads, Oranjezicht, sergeants Glen MacHelm and Ashley Franks arrested three suspects aged between 18 and 22 for theft out of a motor vehicle.
All suspects were detained at Cape Town Central police Station until their first court appearance on Monday April 29.
On Saturday April 27, police arrested a woman for theft of a laptop and a cellphone in St Marks Street, Zonnebloem. It was alleged that she stole her friend’s belongings, which were not recovered. The woman was detained at Cape Town Central police and charged for theft.
Police arrested a man for driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs on Friday April 26, on the corner of Buitengracht and Riebeeck streets. Another two men were arrested in Primrose Street and Long and Orange, Oranjezicht, on Sunday April 28.
Police arrested a man for malicious damage to property on the Foreshore after he had allegedly broken the office glass door at a property on Friday April 26.
A man was arrested on Thursday April 25 for theft from his workplace. Captain October said the man allegedly stole electronic equipment from the institution over a period of time, removing the equipment from the site without permission. Forensic investigators were appointed to investigate and the man was detained at Cape Town Central police station.
Also on Thursday, a man was arrested after he allegedly stole a phone from a truck parked in Kloof Street. The truck owner managed to apprehend the suspect and handed him to the police.
On Wednesday April 24, Cape Town Central Police Crime Prevention Unit members arrested several men and women for various drug-related crime, including illegal possession of mandrax pills, unga and tik.
