Following her first collection of work which was published last year, a Sea Point photographer and blogger has just released another coffee table book.
Her first one, titled Moments That Have Captured My Heart, is a collection of photographs which depict everyday situations with inspirational quotes to inspire and uplift readers.
In her latest offering, Moments with Molly and Friends, her focus shifts to animals, with a collection of 40 photographs of different animals telling the story of her long-standing friendship with her neighbour’s black and white tuxedo cat.
“Animals are such special souls and they often teach you a lot about yourself. They are precious and should be looked after and cared for with lots of love,” she said.
Ms Barletta said she was not a huge fan of cats, as such, but Molly’s free spirit, independence and big personality somehow stole her heart.
She writes: “One of the things I’ve learnt from her is to be a bit more patient. Waking up in the middle of the night to her knocks on my bedroom window, so she can jump in and head straight for the kitchen, so I could feed her is enough to teach anyone a bit of patience.”
Ms Barletta never pocketed anything from her first edition as she donated the proceeds of the sales to St Joseph’s Home in Montana, Missionaries of Charity home in Khayelitsha and Nazareth House in Vredehoek.
The proceeds of her latest book will go to the SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind.
“I chose the Guide dogs as they are an organisation that trains the dogs who then guide the blind person so the proceeds are helping both,” she said.
Ms Barletta said she was currently working on her third edition which would be a recipe book.
The Moments with Molly and Friends is available in all Wordsworth stores for R200.
