The German International School Cape Town (DSK) supported Sunflower Day on Friday September 15 in support of parents and pupils affected by cancer. The aim of The Sunflower Fund is to raise awareness around the need for blood stem cell donors and to get people to join the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR), giving hope to those diagnosed with leukAemia and other life-threatening blood disorders. The DSK took part in the Hope school competition and sold topes (Tube of Hope) which all pupils and teachers wore to school for the forming of the four letters on the sports field. All money raised from the sale of the topes goes to recruiting new blood stem cell donors.
