A case of housebreaking and theft was opened at Cape Town Central police station after a man was apprehended and handed over for arrest in Oranjezicht, by Fidelity ADT on Monday June 26.
Armed response officer Kevin Fredericks was flagged down at 7.15pm by a resident in Montrose Avenue who spotted the man, suspected of burglary, running away.
He was apprehended by the officer soon after that.
Cape Town SAPS spokesperson, Captain Ezra October confirmed the incident, adding that the man was a 25-year-old who lived under a bridge at Holy Cross in District Six.
“During the winter months when daylight hours are fewer, we remind all members of the public to be especially vigilant of suspicious activity around their home or neighbourhood. If anyone or anything out of the ordinary is seen, it is best to immediately contact their security company or the police,” said Fidelity ADT district manager, Jade Hanning.
