What was supposed to be a relaxing evening of dinner with friends turned into a nightmare for a Milnerton man who had his car vandalised in Camps Bay.
On Wednesday April 12, Roger Horwood, was shocked when he left a friend’s house in Victoria Road, Bakoven, to find the left side of his car spray painted.
“It had been vandalised by somebody liberally spray-painting the entire passenger side including the wheels, with pink, red spray paint,” said Mr Horwood.
Mr Horwood parked his car, a 2012 Kia Cerato, in a driveway a few houses away from his friend’s house at 6.45pm.
He said he had not though parking in the driveway would be an issue as there were already huge pine tree logs piled there.
He suspects someone at the house had something to do with the damage to his car, but he has no evidence to prove that.
“There was a car in front of me that wasn’t touched. Only my car was spray painted,” he said.
Mr Horwood, who ministered at Camps Bay United Church for 15 years, said it was a terrible thing to happen in a community like Camps Bay.
Bernard Schafer, head of the Camps Bay Community Security Initiative, said they were aware of the incident but did not
have enough information to comment.
He said Mr Horwood had done the right thing by reporting the case to the police.
“It’s the first I’ve heard of something like this in the area.
“But when something of this nature happens it is either something personal or the person will be targeted for doing something like parking in someone’s driveway,” said Mr Schafer.
Warrant officer Steven Fourie from the Camps Bay police station said a case of malicious damage to property had been opened, but, without any leads to go on, it had been closed.
