As the world will mark World Homeless Day on Thursday, October 10, the Green Point Ratepayers’ & Residents’ Association (GPRRA) and other associations along the Atlantic seaboard, city bowl and northern suburbs are partnering with the City of Cape Town’s Street People Unit to host a wellness day event on Monday, October 7 at Theo Marais Park in Milnerton.
The objective of the event is to create an awareness of responsible giving through the City’s new giving dignity campaign. The event will include a programme that is both instructive and entertaining.
Approximately, 150 participants have been identified to attend the event from various shelters, the Culemborg Safe Space and from the homeless communities along the Atlantic Seaboard. Selection is done somewhat on a reward basis, meaning, those who have shown willingness to make changes in their lives.
Services will include access to service providers supporting street people, health screening and substance abuse rehabilitation advice and support, recreational activities, entertainment and a pop-up clothing store.
Members of the public are urged to support the cause by purchasing contents for toiletry packs and for good quality second-hand clothing, socks and shoes.
Please consider making a donation for toiletry as follows :
