Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is giving pupils up to Grade 12 free entry from Monday to Friday until Tuesday December 15.
The move is in response to a group of doctors advising schools on how best to manage Covid-19 who sent out a letter with advice on how to keep Grade 12 pupils safe for their exams.
The letter recommends pupils limit socialising outside the school and only meet a few friends in an open space such as Kirstenbosch, or other open spaces.
Kirstenbosch recommends that pupils charge their cellphones, arrive early, and enjoy the many energising activities on offer such as a walk on the Tree Canopy Walkway, also known as The Boomslang, or a 90-minute guided walk starting from the Visitors’ Centre (Gate 1), Monday to Saturday at 10am.
Kirstenbosch is open every day, from 8am to 7pm in summer. Entry costs R75 for adults; free for South African senior citizens with ID on Tuesdays, except on public holidays; and R40 for South African students with a student card.
For more information contact Kirstenbosch on 021 799 8783. Visitors must wear their masks at all times.
