A man found with cocaine, dagga and ecstasy in his car was arrested in Beach Road, Sea Point after he was pointed out to police by member of the community.
Police were patrolling the area on Monday July 11 when they got the tip-off. The man, in a white car, drove off when police approached him, but the cops managed to stop the VW Polo and when they searched it, found the drugs.
The 37-year old man was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs as well as resisting arrest.
Sea Point SAPS station commander Colonel Helena Mouton said the partnership between the SAPS Sea Point and community “has once again proven that team work leads to success in combating crime in the area”.
In an unrelated incident, Sea Point SAPS found the body of a man who had died, after they were informed that there was a man lying near the open-air gym on the promenade in Sea Point on Friday July 15.
“The members attended and found the body of an unknown male lying near the gym and seemed to be not breathing. SAPS called for assistance from ambulance services that sadly declared the male dead,” said Sea Point SAPS head of communication Captain Cyril Dicks.
According to Captain Dicks no identification was found on the man and no foul play detected. If anyone has information, they are asked to contact Sea Point SAPS.
