For the first time in years, Cape Town dam levels are experiencing a steady upward trend, thanks to the recent rain.
However, Level 3 water restrictions will remain in place.Â
Dam levels are at just over 72% and the metro’s collective water consumption for the past week is at 550 m/l per day.
Mayoral committee member for water and waste, Xanthea Limberg, said: “With more rain predicted over the next few days, all indications are that this upward trend will continue at least for this week. Although the outlook seems quite positive for now, we are not yet in a position where we can safely relax our water-saving efforts. We will only be able to make an informed decision around water restrictions, at the end of the rainy season in October/November this year.”
Residents are encouraged to continue using water sparingly and to remain water-wise.
