■ An application for the demolition of 116 Upper Harrington Street was approved after initially being denied. After an appeal was lodged, the total demolition was granted by the appeals committee on Wednesday March 28. On April 11, concerned resident, Heiko Schulze, took to Facebook, calling on residents to register their concerns so that the case could be heard by the provincial tribunal. In response to the appeals committee’s approval of the application for total demolition, he wrote: “Presumably it was argued that (the building’s) ‘authenticity is compromised’ and that it’s ‘insignificant’ even with the old oak next to it and in a long established HPOZ (heritage protection overlay zone).
