Former Good Hope FM DJ, Dino Michael, known as the “Godfather”, is due back in court early in August after his latest
appearance before the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on July 12.
Mr Michael was arrested at his Tamboerskloof home in April after members of the Hawks raided the premises and found MDMA and cocaine with a street value of approximately R2.6 million as well as nearly R300 000 in cash. His wife Janine Michael, who is also his bookkeeper, was also arrested.
After the couple’s first appearance, on April 19, they were released on R50 000 and R10 000 bail, respectively.
At this hearing the court heard that the couple usually travelled overseas twice a year, and had been in Bali for the Easter holidays.
The police confiscated Mr Michael’s passport and the terms of their bail prevented them from leaving the province without the investigating officer’s permission.
When the couple made their second court appearance on Thursday July 12, the court heard that the investigation into the drug possession charges had been finalised and that the case was ready to be transferred to the Cape Town Regional Court.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Philani Nkwalase, said: “The matter is due to appear early August for a date to be transferred to the regional court. There is no additional information. The case is on the court roll.”
