Shadley Schroeder is directing and performing in Oh What a Night! being staged at the Ghoema theatre in the Bo-Kaap this weekend.
Schroeder will be singing alongside singers Neesha Abrahams and Zaakiyah Brown, both from Mitchell’s Plain, and will be accompanied by a four-piece band.
“This musical show is about celebrating the music that people listened to and still listen to. It’s about celebrating the memories that this old school music evokes and we want to take the people back to their roots with this music,” said Mr Schroeder, 28, from Athlone.
“The Ghoema theatre is part of the heritage of the Bo-Kaap. It’s a perfect setting for the show. I’m speaking about the Malay choirs and the Kaapse klopse which was a festivity in this area before the pandemic, so we chose this venue because of it’s historical connection,” he said.
On Saturday the first show is at 4pm and the second will start at 8pm, and on Sunday the final show starts at 5pm. For details call 084 443 4793 or 067 267 9919 or send an email to Shadz.schroeder@gmail.com
