Sea Point resident Jane De Wet says being in Afrikaans feature film Vlugtig during lockdown built chemistry among the actors and crew.
“We had to isolate for a week before shooting started and this gave us a chance to bond, to collaborate and to learn from each other,” she said. “It was a big team effort. I also loved that we stayed on location in Magoebaskloof, it’s a gorgeous place.”
Ms De Wet is one of three characters in the movie, starring alongside Arno Greeff and Ernst van Wyk in this film that embraces the fable of Red Riding Hood, now showing on Showmax.
“I think this movie sheds some light on what actors in this industry go through on an emotional and mental level. The overall message of this film to me is about extracting the value from your hardships and suffering, growing from it and how hardship is instrumental in your growth and metamorphosis,” she said.
Ms De Wet has also starred in local productions such as MNet’s Still Breathing, Rage, Parable, Mis and Trackers, as well as international productions such as BBC’s The Watch and Slumber Party Massacre.
