Hatchetman celebrate 10-year anniversary

The band Hatchetman will perform with a touring artist from the USA, Brett Newski, alongside other homegrown talent on Friday October 13 at The Armchair Theatre, in Observatory, at 8pm.

They will then celebrate their 10-year anniversary as a band on Saturday October 14 at Alma Café, in Rosebank, at 6.30pm for 7pm.

Hatchetman was formed in 2013 when Nick and Matt Catto and Jono Tait came across one another and decided to have a go at singing some three-part harmony.

There was instant chemistry and the band was born on the spot. With influences ranging from Crosby, Stills and Nash, to James Taylor and the West Coast singer songwriter tradition in common, the three men were able to combine and craft a fresh sound that was unmistakably their own, while paying homage to the greats of yesteryear.

Jono Tait is the primary songwriter and band leader. The Catto Brothers, Nick and Matt spring from the rich musical Blundell dynasty, as the grandchildren of the well known Keith Blundell.

Stephane Courneloup is the band’s lead guitarist. He joined the band two weeks before their first cross border gig in Mozambique, way back in 2015, and has been an integral part of the sound ever since.

Tickets for the show on Friday October 13 at The Armchair Theatre cost from R60 each through Quicket.

Tickets for the show on Saturday October 14 at Alma Café cost R180 each. Email bookings@almacafe.co.za to book.
