The Salesian Institute Youth Projects staged a lively mardi gras-themed concert for guests from the Neighbourhood Old Age Homes (NOAH) in Cape Town last Wednesday.
Attendees were treated to a morning of joyful melodies and energetic rhythms that highlighted the young artists’ talent and dedication.
“The Learn to Live School of Skills is committed to providing a platform for youth from at-risk backgrounds to discover and nurture their talents,” said Father Francois Dufour, CEO at the Salesian Institute Youth Projects.
“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to share the performances with the esteemed residents of NOAH, fostering intergenerational connections and spreading the joy of music,” he said.
“We are immensely grateful to the National Arts Council for their generous support, which will allow us to expand and develop our music programme and provide even greater opportunities for our learners,” said Tony Austen, principal of the school.
The Learn to Live School of Skills is a four-year programme that empowers teens aged 14 to 18 from underprivileged communities by means of basic education and practical skills training, promoting personal growth and socio-economic empowerment.
