Friends of Child Protection will be preparing comfort packs to be distributed to over 1000 children who have been sexually abused. This takes place at the Gardens Presbyterian Church.
These comfort packs will be distributed to 25 SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) units in the Western Cape, which are linked to police stations.
Thuthuzela Care Centres (TCC), which are attached to state-owned hospitals such as the Karl Bremmer Hospital, will also receive comfort packs.
“On the prepack days are we sort, collate and label all the items that will go into the comfort packs. The pack day is when all the items are packed into the comfort packs according to age, gender, and destination. The various TCCs and FCS units will then come and collect their respective comfort packs on pack day,” said Antonia Zechner, chairperson of FCP.
The days for the pre-packs are:
- Thursday February 16 from 8.30am to noon
- Saturday February 18 from 8.30am to 3pm
- Tuesday February 21 from 8.30am to noon
The pack day is Thursday February 23 from 8.30am to noon.
